Had a good day out at Chin. The last couple of trips we caught 3 pike each trip. Most around 4or5 lbs.1 was about 8lbs.We tryed out our new icetent hoping to catch some whitefish but the water is dirty. You can only see 3 ft.There is lots of open water.

Nice fish. That ice looks slick as can be. Looks like it would be good for ice skating.

You said there a was open water. Just how thick was the ice where you were fishing?

Look in the back ground of the picture you can see the open water. The main lake has lots of open water some half mile streches. There is 5" to6" of ice it pop and cracked all morning. It was freaking the dogs out it was so bad and us.

You should drop your Jet into chin Dago.

Plenty of open shoreline near the west end if you could find a nice gravel area to get it in and out.

My goal is to get my boat out there before it freezes again so I can say I was boat fishing in Alberta in January and hopefully find some good eye action.

Nat is the river wide open in Lethbridge. Most of its open in Taber not quit ice free. One more week of warm weather and a guy should be able to go.

I don't think there is much ice at all on the river around here.

If you do get up here to dump the boat in let me know if you want some company.

Forks is probably frozen over the whole back eddie area with the main run being open but good luck getting out onto the ice to fish or to get across it to fish the open water.
