So I made a trip out to K - Country today for some hiking, and decided to take a few pics for my fellow fisherman.

Barrier Lake (Jan. 8, 2012)

(I wouldn't adivse even stepping foot on this lake right now, as we were on shore, you can constantly hear the weight of the water crushing the ice)

Lower Kananaskis Lake (Jan. 8, 2012)

looks the same as it did, if not worse, than when I was there in late november in the snowstorm, very disappointing. Hopefully most of the snow melts off early though, so open water season can be extended by quick clear water this year :)

Fished it yesterday, there is a foot of ice. As always with reservoirs access from shore can be tricky.

There was also a huge storm front out there and the wind was about 50 km/h.

Altho there was ONE ice shanty....

found some fish but only got one 10" brownie. The bulls looked to be about 16" and maybe a few whities swam by. They were not aggressive, just held my wet flies in the end of their mouths and then swim away so it was hard to set the hook.

Thanks for the update. Less snow there than I thought there was. Might go for a hike there again very soon.
