-I was surprised to receive this gift from a family member over the holidays.

My Dad was in a book store in Scottsdale AZ. and spotted this cool little fishing desk calendar. I suppose it caught his eye because his son was on the cover so he sent it to me for a chuckle...
Seeing this calendar made be think about the man behind this little project, who is one of the most interesting people I have hosted over my guiding career. At the time, Ken Schultz had been the fishing editor for Field & Stream magazine for over 30 years, and his assigment to fish with me in the Tofino area was memorable for both of us, which also ended up being his last with this publication.
For a man of his experience travelling all over the world, writing about and photographing fishing opportunities that many only dream about, the stories he shared, though just a small sample, where beyond impressive. Undoubtedly the biggest impression left in my mind from our time together, was his statement that the various Fishing experiences I shared with him during his assignment to the Tofino area were among his most memorable.....
Lots in interesting ideas for the average, or professional fisherman on a day by day compelation complete with images to match. Aside from the cover photo, I'd rather not get into which pages I am on but will admit it was enough years ago that there was no grey in the beard and definitely more spring in my step. Some aspects of Ken's article can be seen on the bottom right panel on our Home Page (http://www.tofinofishing.com)as well.
For any interested to check it out further, this calendar can be sourced at this website (http://gladstonemedia.com/ken-schultz-daily-fishing-tips-2012-desk-calendar/), with direct purchase options.

No, I had no idea that Ken was putting this calendar out or that our images would be used. He shot over 10 "rolls" of film while there (an indication that it was a few years back as his camera was non - HD Digital) I knew he captured many great shots from the trip.

I would think that particular image was used due to the pretty smile of Ken's daughter Alison and the bright Fly caught Coho, and not because of my ugly mug....

It does bring back good memories though, as we really nailed it for the week they were with me.

We enjoyed one of the best days I have had in my favourite fly in lake for big Rainbows, releasing many over 5 lbs. These images also remind me that the old 35mm camera didn't do a great on most days, but I did manage a few cover shots with it over the early years.
