View Full Version : If you were limited for time - which lake would you go to for Perch? Burnstick or Gull?

I'm hoping to take Friday off and get into some Perch.

I've fished Pine Lake already this year, and now I'm narrowing my choices between Gull and Burnstick.

Fished Gull once at Brownlows, and have never been to Burnstick.

Thoughts?

Won't be going to brownlows for Perch. There is another area I'm going to try perhaps.

I am throwing my hat in for Burntstick. Lots of perch. the lake actually has structure to it unlike gull.

If you want easy perch, I would say Burntstick. Gull you'll have to work a little harder to find them, and contrary to what others have stated, there are perch at Brownlows. You just have to know where to look for them...

gull has big perch and the lakes around Caroline have smaller perch but a lot easier to catch and wont require you to hunt them down. plus if you get bored of the perch theres always trout nearby

Still on the fence, but leaning towards burnstick. Thanks for the advice guys.

Don't have a fish cam, but I do have my nice homebuilt shack and big buddy heater!

You dont realy need a fish cam. just bounce around a big flashy spoon and if no perch arrive go to the next hole and if you see the perch bring up the big shiny spoon and put on a perch hook

Fished Gull a couple times this winter, never saw any perch though. Wasn,t targeting them either. Caught fish both times we were out though. Good Luck

Perch don't bite when the camera is down the hole. And if you drop it down to look, you might as well drill another. JMHO.

we look down with the camera. once we find fish and then play keep away with the smaller perch or put the camera down a hole 6' away work's great 4 the gun crew. like the big spoon idea FH7 and we find fish with my sounder. then put down the camera worked great on sat. mho

Looks like Burnstick will be the choice.

If you see a blue F150 and the shack shown above, that will be me and another guy.

I am going to be at Burnstick on Saturday bright and early. Maybe I will see some of you out there.

I should be there.....black and yellow frabil tent. Depending on ice thickness, there should be a Light brown lifted GMC 1500 with 35in Toyo's beside it.

Can't tell ya the number of times I and my fishing bud have watched the perch take our jig. From the same hole the camera is down.

The perch at Burnstick love the camera(and music too). The way I catch the perch is drill a hole drop down the camera, no fish move on. Once you find them leave the camera in the hole and drill another hole for fishing about 3' away.

Just my honest opinion. I have caught my share of perch while watching cameras but on tougher days you'll catch 10x more just fishing on a hole outside the shack. But do what you want...you don't have to believe me.
