Had a free Sunday, so loaded up the fishin gear and the son and headed out.. We went by Butcher and saw snow from BC crossing the lake and stock piling on the north side of the road, so we opted not to be chasing gear all day.. With that in mind, I guessed that Bathing would be a bust too, so we went to Beauvais Lake instead..

Walked out and got a bit gunshy coming off the shore opposite the boat launch when there was a fair amount of water on the ice, under the snow.. Carefulyl made our way out and did a test drill, even though there were other groups already on the lake.. There was about 12" of ice there, so we headed out.. Dropped a couple of lines through 16" of ice and tried our luck.. Ony about 10' of water above the weeds, but there were still quite a few fish hitting our hooks.. A few had it in there mouths, but no takers.. Neither one of us caught anything, but had a great afternoon.. Maybe head out there another day...

Yesterday I took the girlfriend and kids out trying to find a lake without a hurricane blowing on it.. We went to Lees first.. No one else on the ice, and a good wind blowing, so we headed out.. Got stopped leaving the parking lot by a fish cop.. Talked to him for a minute then headed to Beaver Mines.. There were a few people braving the wind out there, with one guy making sure his tent didn't blow away.. We left there and made our way out.. Back at the highway the fish cop had made his way here and had someone else pulled over...
We went to Beauvais to see how it was.. The wind was in spurts so we headed toward the middle of the lake.. With the four of us we got the tent set up and had a line in the water.. The girlfriend had the first rainbow of the year out and being about 10" we kept him.. They were again tough cathing, as they were hitting the hooks, but not biting.. We caught 4 more fish, but they were all suckers, so the eagles and hawks should have a good feast..
Took the tent down and headed home.. With winds over 120 km/h here today, it was an inside day...
