I've done some research regarding bringing a car across the border but Customs & Revenue doesn't specifically address ATV's.

I know I'll have to pay GST and a $249 import fee, at least that what you pay on a car.

Will there be duty on a Japanese product?

There was a discussion on this a few months back but I can't find it.

I'd like hear from someone who has gone thru the process.

The fee is $189.00 on quads paid to the RIV, go to their web page and all the info you require is located on it. riv.com

Many atvs marketed by Honda and others are built in the U.S.,so there is no duty on those models.

There will be the RIV charge on the quad plus the inspection, etc...

IF it was made in Japan, there would be 6.1% duty....you can tell where its made via the VIN number...

Also you will need to contact US Customs to properly export the quad from the US...
