Who knew you could fish a small open pool and fish the N.S.R this time of year, was awsome, had bites every cast, could not even believe it, lost a huge one to, most were 20-24 inches long, then one hog, but no walleye yet :)

By the way, i do not advise anyone to walk on the ice to start ice fishing, i fished from shore, the ice is very unstable right now. Use common sense and stay off the ice.

Thanks Ddave, i have way more photos, but it is not loading for some reason, oh well, heading out tomorrow as well for the monster that got away today, was awsome even met some biologists taking samples from the river and told me not to eat anything out of the river, lol i replied i am the least of your worries as i am a c&r fishermen, they were laughing at me at first when i was fishing a pool 4 feet by 2 feet and it worked wonders then they shut up :)

I really like the last picture - it looks all angular and intense.

It's still open by the Devon bridge, but I'm not sure how appropriate it would be for fishing.

I've caught them there in the winter before too... the only reason I tried is a cop kicked me off the pond and I was glad to have brought my rod along and nailed a pike on a crankbait in that pool. At certain times in the summer we'd nail em and C&R em there!

Nice Ones. I'm hoping regular fishing on the NSR will be early this year.

You guys ever catch any eyes over there at this time of year. or would one have to go to the other side and fish by the plant off shore if that is possible, can you still fish by that water plant?
And yes, fishing the nsr is possible in the winter if you are an experienced fisherman and know where and when. (from prev thread, when everyone was picking on Shawn) lol.:) Lets just all get along. hahaha
And Nice catch btw. got some cool looking pics there.

The other side is fenced off by epcor and security at the gate going in.It was a popular spot at one time and a good walleye spot.

Shawn,

YOU CAN"T FISH THE NSR IN FEBRUARY!

.............so the boys said.

great pics. too bad you didn't pick up any wallys.

take it easy around that ice. you'll wanna still be around in the spring when you can safely fish all the water.

great pics Shawn, wish the hole in the river down here was closer to shore. clip your snap any way you like, you're the one catching fish while other people criticize. :sHa_shakeshout:
