It was a spectacular morning in the mountains. Dead calm , about minus 1. I love it when you can fish with no gloves. Caught 12 in an hour and 15min, kept a few for supper tonite. Had the lake all to myself.

No problem . Ive been out twice in 2 yrs so its unlikely youd take any fish away from me anyway...lol . Its called Butcher lake. The local boys will know by the mountain pic where its at anyhow.

I like that little lake, it's where I took my girls on their first over night fishing trip. They had a blast catching brookies, I never got a line wet. It's a fond memory.

I always have a fly rod with me when I'm hunting down there and manage to find a couple hours to cast flies to those little gems.

One of my favorite little lakes. Beautiful country. Fun little Brookies. Have Never tried it during hard water, though!

Thanks for sharing. i have been wanting to try ice fishing and using your pictures I was able to convince my wife to give it a try tomorrow. I do have a couple of questions. How thick was the ice? I have never fished for brookies so I do not have a clue as to what kind of bait / presentation to use. Any suggestiong would be greatly appreciated.

Ice was about a foot. I just use power bait under a bobber

Is there any size to those fish? We fished it one day last year and didn't get nothing. The water was brown and discsuting at the time though, thought it may have winter killed.

Nice pics. Always enjoy hiking in that country. Definitely no need for gloves today that's for sure.
