When I first looked at your mounts there was something about them that struck me as "odd". So i went and looked at a couple deer mounts I have on the wall. On my mounts the ears of the deer are much closer to the antlers of the deer. I always thought the mounts I have looked great. Now I will have to look at some pics of live deer to see the actual location of the ears in relation the the antlers.

Have a good one.

that second one looks really good, the eyes on the first look a little off but still good job, the ear position varies quite a bit from taxidermist to taxidermist

The ears are seating low; did the same thing when I just started out. Still nice mounts.

very nice work on the mounts and congrats when you go out on your own, first thing i seen were how low the ears were drooping on the heads, but very nice job and alot of people may like them low like that.

hey everybody thanks for the feedback. i agree that the ears were set a bit low. i will try to avoid making that mistake again in the future. i really enjoy taxidermy and i hope with more experience my mounts will only get better in time. again thanks for the nice compliments and feedback. here is a pic of the sheds i've found so far this year.

I dont wanna be a nitpic Swifty, but if those sheds were all found already this spring, i would expect there would appear to be traces of blood at the pedicule on each shed. I could see finding old stuff for sure, but it should be mostly covered by old vegetation and snow. Tough to find till snow out.........BTW, some great taxi work!! Keep at er!!!

keep a strain on er.

thanks for the concern but i've been looking for sheds since jan. spent many hours on the deer trails. there is a couple from last year for sure but the majority have been from this year. i spend an hour a day walking the deer trails after work....good way to stay in shape and you never know what you might find....picked up a 5pt shed tonite, you wont find em if your not out there.
