Where to head this Saturday...

Looking to head out from Calgary, looking for ideas of a decent lake, south of Edmonton...or around Red Deer.

Not looking for a honey hole, just a decent lake that one could catch a few fish, preferably somewhere that allows you to have a few for the BBQ.

I haven't been here long enough to do a lot of searching on lakes, so I'm just looking for a direction to a decent body of water.

If anyone wants to join, that's cool too, meeting up with some old friends and have some laughs, while we enjoy this kick ass winter!!

Sylvan Lake is always a safe bet.

Pine Lake? Not sure how the ice is but it's certainly in the area you mentioned (just south east of Red Deer).

Any body been out to either lately? Ice condition reports? How was the fishing? Slow?
