Wondering what would be the prefered broadhead for bear?

I sliced mine up last fall with a Rocket fixed blade. He bled out in 30 yards.
I shot him from the ground by the way.

Anything that is accurate out of you bow, and sharp.
If it's legal it will work.
I preffer Zwickey Black Diamonds myself....

I usually shoot NAP Spitfires, but for bear this year I'm going to try a fixed blade. I'm told the slick tricks and Muzzys are a good buy.

Mechanicals= Spitfires...(I prefer the originals NOT the XP's)

Fixed=Shuttle T locks....these things fly better than any other blade out there. Try them...you will be satisfied.

I prefer mechanicals to fixed blades. We've shot lots of bears with Wasp Jak Hammers 1-3/4 " cut. Huge holes and short blood trails are the order of the day! A few years back, my brother and I went on a bear hunt. We shot 3 bears all with Jak Hammers. The total distance cumulatively, all three bears travelled after being shot was less than 50 yds. Truth be known though, any sharp head, that flies well, is going to do you just fine.

There isn't just one. Out of 100's available.............I would have to believe that most of them would do the job. 5-20 yard shot. Five responses and you got five different heads. I am going from a situation where I have a half dozen BH makes hanging around down to one that works on everything. It's not like a rifle where you might want to have a range of cartridge loads for varmints to moose. One BH is all you really need. But....don't let that stop you from experimenting......I've just lost interest in experimenting with BH's. What do I use........Muzzy 4 blade 100 gr using compound bows and Magnus 125 gr two blade for trad bows.

I hate these posts it all comes down to opinion, like Ford or Chevy,

I hate mechanicals after having one fail and other people love them

I have my preferred broadheads but in the end they all will work if you put them in the right place.

People spend more time debating brand of broadhead than out practicing with them. In the end broadhead placement is more important than brand!

If they are legal size, sharp and true they will work.....

Let's spend our time more usefully... practicing archery instead of debating a triviality

I agree with nekred on the mechanicals, but lots of guys swear by them. Tried Spitfire's out a couple years ago since so many talk up mechanicals, and after taking one animal with them, will never use them again.

Personally, I use G5 Montecs, solid, one piece construction and excellent cutting. Had a pass through on my bear last spring at 20yds quartering away.

There are LOTS to choose from. Pick one and see if you can get good groups then try them out in the field. Only real good way to test them in my opinion. Good Luck!

bears are big wimps. It really doesn't matter what you hit them with, as long as you get doubble lungs...

Anybody is gonna end up looking like a big wimp, after they had an arrow smoke through them behind the shoulder!! Truth be known, black bear are tough animals and they take alot of killing. I use the slick trick 4 blade fixed in a 100 gr. for all my hunting. They work good real good. Prob no different than many others though.

They fly great.Solid one piece design,razor sharp and cut on impact point.I shot a black last spring and it zipped right threw the ribs never to be seen again.:)

I was really eyeing those montecs up one day while townin, till wifey caught me lookin. Id love to try them, they look just awesome, so theyve got to be good!!!

G5 Montecs.. very precise construction and can be resharpened.
I used G5 Stryker's last season.. tough as nails but replaceable blades can be a pain.
