Chain Lake

anyone been to chain lake (south) recently? taking a group of scouts tomorrow and am looking for an ice thickness report, is it driveable?

Was there last weekend, 15". Managed 4 bows to the ice. Magic bait was velveeta, and if you get hungry, you can eat it too. Lots of vehicles on the ice.

Was also there last weekend landed 7 between 3 of us. 16" of ice where I was drilling we walked out but then drove out to load up the truck. Velvet was the go to bait but we did get some hits on worms also. Good luck I hope you have a good day out with all the kids.

yeah drove the 1/2 ton out last week, a little slow though we only caught a couple. It seems that it has been slower the last couple of years.
