What are your go-to colors of wireworms for whites? Myself, in clear water I tend to use all red wrapped ones, and sometimes brass with a yellow tip. Murkier water, usually all yellow.

For whitefish in Alberta, they will strike on anything from yellow, brass, orange, copper, and occasionally purple. I also had great success once with a combo yellow & red braided wireworm (home made - I'll sell you one for a "small price" - lol).

My father in law had about 350 wireworms, teardrops and Wetaskawin Specials all pre-tied on paint mixing sticks with about 60 feet of line. Made it easy to switch.

Anyhow, out of all of those, he had this one black wireworm that was by far the best. He took super fine silver line and wrapped it around the wireworm in the grooves between the black wire. We always fight over that hook.

Cheers.

I've been making a few wireworms over the past few days, all different colours and patterns. Has anyone regularly used a curved hook? It seems like the majority of people use a straight shaft regular hook.

My favorite colour = a nice orange.

I was looking online for some pictures to go along for the hook I was explaining. Turns out google has quite a poor selection of images for wireworms.

What I like to do is go into FH, look at all their wireworms and try to copy the pattern at home later :)

Dark red or bright yellow. If one isn't working, I switch to the other.
