Hi all im just wondering if anyone has a picture off these ice heaves? im not too sure ive seen one before and i think it would be a good idea to know what im looking for. Thanks for any help!

This is a heave from Utikima Lake 2 years ago. It was over 6ft tall.

Not all ice heaves are this obvious always take caution and pay attention while on the ice!!!

In the oilfield and bush road lingo, they call them pressure ridges.

Large rivers like the Peace River are one long pressure ridge when frozen over.

I'll see if I can get some photos of what it looks like for those who have never seen it.

That last pic is kinda cool with the ice heave and the mountain in the background. That mountain in the back was created by the same type of process of land masses crashing into eachother millions of years ago, whereas the ice is a more recent example of the same kinda thing. Awesome!
