This is the elk that I shot with my bow this year. He was 10-12 yards away when I shot him. What a rush. Did I mention that this is the first elk I have shot with a bow. Like I said what a rush.

Great bull. Can't wait for my first. I've had them standing at 15 yds, but never with the right angle for a shot. It is a great adrenaline rush for sure.

congrats to you my friend, did you call the bull right in that close or did you call him in and just happen to be in the perfect position on that hunt.
also did you face paint on the hunt or just mask, were you wearing scent control.
in a tree stand or on the ground.

i drew a once in a lifetime tag in wyoming and im doing eveyr thing i can to prepare for it, ive never really worn face paint and masks and stuff before but if it is what it takes then im goign to,

To answer some questions:
Sorry no feild photos, We went to take pics and the camera battery was dead. We where a two hour hike back to the truck so no feild pics.I now carry a dispossable camera. We were not hunting from stands. Yes he was called in, he came in very fast. We had three different bulls answer the call, he was the first to come in. To fast actually, We had everything set up on how we where going to do it but he came in so fast that I did not get a chance to draw when I wanted. He stopped right in front of me and looked right at me. My buddy that was about 15 yards away cow called and then the bull turned and started to walk again which gave me the chance to draw and shoot. I was wearing face paint not a mask. I used to wear a mask but I found that it got in my way, the paint is a little harder to clean up but I like it way better. I find I have a better all round veiw with the paint. We were also using scent bolck. Hopefully that answered all the questions. If not just let me know.

your story just brings back all the scenario's.. elk hunting is so much fun, getting
the ambush setup and calling him in... watching him trotting toward you.. what a rush! I love it! Nice bull
