Had an ice fishing B-day party for my son...went to Gull ( North side - Parkland Beach)

As we rolled onto the lake we saw a dude fighting a fish through the ice so we slowed down so kids could see....The guy pulled up a massive pike w/out much effort....we stopped right there so the kids could see....told the dude we were setting up "right here" ( like 10' from his tent )....big laugh by all.....dude had no scale or pliers...which I lent to him....20 lbs....impressive fish....kids so excited now.....dude released fish....

We did set up right there as dudes were leaving anyway....said they saw about 10 whites....not interested....

Got tip ups set up right away ( trebles w/ Herring )...

Set up the tent to try for whites....saw only one all day....tried all colours and methods of wireworms + maggots ... No luck.....

Managed a 4lb pike....see pic....and another smaller one....we released....that ewas it for the day.....

Sure would like to get into some whites this winter....

Will keep trying...

Overall fun day on Gull

Hey JBEAU, you were a life saver that morning! Thanks so much for the use of your pliers! Guess we never thought we were going to need them. I was wondering if you could email me that picture as it is better than the ones my dad was able to capture in the excitement. My address is chaddeschamps@hotmail.com. Thanks again.
