I'm heading to Kootenay lake this weekend to fish for Dollys and Gerrards. Been wanting to make this trip for a number of years and the stars finally aligned for me. Anyone have any advice or even some pics just to get me even more stoked for the trip?

Take out Brad with kootenaykingfisher.com from kaslo. He'll put you on fish and teach you a lot about fishing those big trout.

From what I hear the last two weeks the fishing has slowed right down, a few guys I know who are out there regularly have not been catching. All through December and January the fishing was really good, who knows maybe it'll turn around for you. The valley here is a wonderful place time. It's getting close to when the Kokanee fishing gets good. For the Gerrards a lot of people use bucktails trolled way back from the boat, preferably using planer boards to get them well clear of the boat. If you don't have planer boards don't sweat it you still can catch fish without them. All of the Dollies I've caught and seen caught were on a downrigger using large Lyman's plugs, on my boss's boat we have the best luck with the brighter colours especially orange and green. Anyhow good luck and enjoy the valley.
