Yah I hate to see that too. Looks like they got two of them. The good part is that was a police chase and the bad guy didnt get too far.

Looks to me like 4Charlie9 didn't take any evasive action to avoid the elk in his/her driving lane.
Another Crown Vic bites the dust.
Hopefully the officer is OK and another chase unit didn't pile into him.

I feel sorry for the loss of the tax payer owned resource.

I am not talking about the crown vic.

I now have the Imperial March stuck in my head.

(This is a good thing... I've been crushing on Vader for 28 years!)

I nearly hit two bull elk on Highway No. 41 northbound.
It was dawn, they scampered on to the road, saw me and just plum stopped in the middle of my lane. I skidded to a stop within six or eight feet of them.

THEN they started moving again. That adrenaline rush lasted a good, long time.

In the last 5 years up at the lake 8 near misses 7 deer & 1 bear cub. Bear cub scared me the most as I could just see it, wham holy moley and then momma comes back to see where baby is. :(

This reminds me of a near miss I had a few years ago on the way home from deer hunting. It was dark and snowing hard when a nice buck trots onto the highway from the passenger side, nose to the ground and not stopping.

I swerved left into the oncoming lane and quickly realized that the two of us were on the same course so I swerved back to the right to go behind him. Well, I missed the deer but pull a couple of swerves like that on a slippery road and the heart gets going. I must have went from shoulder to shoulder about ten times before I got her back under control. That steering wheel got a good workout!

Thank God that nobody was coming toward me. I think the next guy that came along to see my tire tracks all over the place must have got a good chuckle. Maybe he even applauded my ability (luck) in keeping it on the road.
