Ghost Reservoir Ice?

How is the ice at ghost at the west end? Im thinking about night fishing some burbs or heading down to that end in the dark with a 2 wheel drive, and would appreciate some reliable input as to how much ice is down at that end, and how the surface conditions are on the lake for a small car. Thanks so much for any advice,

Talked to my buddy about ghost last night and he said the ice is rotten enough he would not walk on it.

Was there last weekend and it was still very solid 3 feet with an inch or two of rotten on top but that was north of the bridge away from the windy area. There is a huge pressure ridge south of the bridge so I'd stay away from that but I did see some trucks out on the ice so I'm not sure how they got on.

The east end is still ~24", but there is standing water and the bottom 8-10 inches are rotted and slushy.

Ice was fine to walk on around the boat launch with due caution. Not many fish around however.

I disagree...4-6 inches of ice will get you wet this time of year.

Sure as long as its clean clear ice not likely pal , good way to end up dead this time of year .

I heard that the ice is gone at Ghost. Haven't been there myself. Might get the boat in the water next week if it's true.

I haven't driven out that way but I doubt the ice is off. Usually May before you can get the boat in. But that said I will go and give er a look this week.

One person fishing Wed in front of the boat launch . was told 18" of ice. nothing soft arround the edge as far as i walked out and went arround in front of the parking lot. There is a pressure ridge that runs off the corner by the boat launch.. Remember the west end will be affected by current.

I passed by there on the way back today from Grotto Mountain Pond.

Grotto was completely ice free. Ghost Reservoir was completely covered in ice. A few people ice fishing on there towards the west.

There's a pressure ridge south from the main parking lot to the cottages near the dam.

The only piece of open water was a small section at the north side of the dam that could be seen from the road.

Don't know much about ice fishing myself, but with the recent warm weather, I wouldn't risk it myself at this time of year.

X 2 I drove out there today and like you said it's completely covered with ice. There were quite a few people fishing on the ice west of Ghost village in the shallow section. My buddy who told me the ice was off was obviously wrong. Sorry for the misleading post.

Was out a few days back and all the ice sleds are removed and I think the ice parachutes are finished as well.

Large pressure ridge running by the boat launch all the way to the dam, some open water on the west end.

Another 10 days is my guess. Most years once she opens on the west end with a wind like we are having oday the whole lake usually opens within a week.

Best way to keep in the know i find is to call the Ghost Res. marina.

Was there yesterday, towards the church is open water but near the main parking lot still iced over. There is about 3-4" of soft ice covering the surface but the shoreline is melting fast.

Called the marina yesterday. Still some ice, and they don't expect the boat launch to be open this weekend, perhaps next if it stays warm.
