Thinking of taking my daughter for some Walleye fishing in the Joussard area on Slave Lake. Would be going during her Spring Break on Mar.26/27. Does anyone know what the ice conditions are like, and how productive is the fishing. I drive a GMC 2500 HD Duramax diesel pickup. Is the ice still safe to drive a vechicle like this, or should I just stay home. I would be making a five hour trip to do this, so I thought I would ask if anyone has any observations on what’s happening out there. Thank you for any responses.

Slave is a lake with ever changing ice conditions there are ice heaves out from Joussard but many have safe crossings.
I would use caution obviously and don't venture off the beaten path but I would guess unless it gets crazy hot in the next week you shouldn't have an issue at all.

There is lots of ice another inch or two and i would need my auger extention. We have had good luck at Big Grassy. Good road in straight out to fishing area.
