You have some time Phantom? Try the Wikipedia first - it might be the simplest explanation http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aurora_(astronomy)

The lights were not that spectacular but certainly visible here in East Central.

Last night the wife called me out onto the deck, we shut off all the house lights and enjoyed the show. I don't remember ever seeing them that bright and all around us including in the skys south of our house. Lots of colors and movements were fantastic! We watched for about a half hour. Its nice here on the acreage no city lights to dim the show. South east of Strathmore is where we are watching them. To bad my son was in bed sleeping he would have liked to see those lights.:) :)

Kelly was up in Peace River area and told me about them as well. Good night for them I guess.

They were pretty spectacular here in Jasper as well. Here is a photo that a friend of mine took from Old Fort Point.
