Third Reading Scheduled For Today

Looks like the Senate is going to start the third reading today. Who knows when they will actually finish but at least the second from last step is under way.

And QC is filing an injunction to, "save", the data.

Rather expensive political theater that is destined to fail.

Hope they have to pay the Feds court costs out of the transfer payments we send them.

The Conservatives have already said that they intend to proceed with destroying the data despite an injunction. Seeing as most of the Supreme Court are Liberal appointees it seems inevitable that the QC will get the injunction unfortunately.

I was under yhe impression that under the Privacy Act, any info collected by one Gov't. agency cannot transfer info to another????...dunno???

I have made it clear - repeatedly - that not one more dime comes from me until the Registry is gone and all the data has been shredded, then the pieces burned, all the ashes gathered up and dumped at sea.....in different locations. I think that I was pretty clear on it. If we're talking computers and backups, then I'm thinking a D6 walked back and forth. Something like that.

I was excited for the abolishment of the registry at first...back before the new year. The idea of not having a firearm registry still does excite me...buuuuut...I will believe it when it is finally done.

Senator Fraser: When the registry is gone, honourable senators, those guns will still be unrestricted and freely available — one can buy them on the Internet — and there will be no way to know who in Canada is toting around guns that are actually sold as assault rifles. Their makers, in some of these cases, call them assault rifles. These are not duck guns. If one tried to shoot a duck with one of them, one would blow the poor bird to smithereens.
