Some people just have no clue how long things like this take, it shouldn't be too easy either. Significant legislation should not be passed in weeks.

And at 5:41 QC went to the Liberal dominated Supreme Court of Canada to prevent the destruction of the data....all the data not just for QC residents, so the provinces can access it if they want it........question now is.....what comes first, a SC ruling or next election.

if the gg passes the bill which includes the destruction of the paper trail will the sc have any say? and by the time the sc gets through it, is any of the info going to even be accurate? i know a guy or two who are getting ready to buy guns after the bill is passed so although my .243 is registered to me, i might not have it in 3 months.... how is this going to work then? if all the info they have is innacurate what is the point in keeping it?

It may become law today.

http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/story/2012/04/05/pol-gun-registry-data-quebec.html

Public Safety Minister Vic Toews, his parliamentary secretary, Candice Hoeppner, and Quebec Minister of State Maxime Bernier spoke to reporters in Ottawa on Thursday morning and confirmed the process to begin destroying the registry's data would begin this afternoon, when the bill is expected to become law.

Bill C-19, the Act to Amend the Criminal Code and the Firearms Act, passed at third reading in the Senate just after 5:30 p.m. ET Wednesday, by a vote of 50-27. The legislation is expected to receive royal assent on Thursday afternoon, the final step in becoming law.
