What a great night on the N.s.r caught lots of walleye, lots of bites, fished with fishinggeek tonight, was a fun night, caught a nice sized N.s.r pike along with a HUGE N.s.r butbot and lots of burbot, water is still low and very dirty, goodluck :) hands down fishing geeks cannot wait to fish with you more, many more trips to come, cheers.

great pics as usual. I've been down at hermitagequite a bit and was hoping to meet you one of those times but seem to miss you everytime. I just talk to alot of others and a few that know and talk to you regularly. Anyway I thought tonight I would head there for some full moon wallye but wife went to see the hunger games so I'm heading there tomorrow morning. I too have a black ranger, so if you see it I'm there come say hi.

The big giveaway on knowing if it's a quillback is of course the quill on the back ;) Unfortunately my crappy pics don't really show the quill. Trust me though, if you ever manage to catch one you'll know it right away. I know they weighed it, and I'm pretty sure it was over 8lbs.

I bet that big redhorse put up a heck of a fight!

I'm on a quest to search new spots as well, but for pike, walleye, even goldeye will go for a bow river bugger, wooley bugger... Sink tip it down and scrape the bottom.

I was out yesterday and on Saturday and caught nothing. I was swinging my spey rod, and didn't expect to get much/anything, but it was nice to get out! I'm sure if I was using bait my life would be filled with more fish, but I like to stay away from rigs and go for aggressive and feeding strikes. Anyone fly fish the river yet this year?

that fish has elements of sauger with the faint black blotches on its side, and a lack of a prominent white tip on its tail. What is it missing to be a 100% sauger like the ones in my pics:

deep black markings on it's side

only the under belly when viewed from its side is white, the blackness of its side carries all the way around it's body, unlike a walleye its white underbelly comes up its side.

prominent black spots on ALL of it's fins

NO WHITENESS on it's tail

Eyes that look almost out of proportion to it's body

hints of orange on it's pectoral fins

A sauger looks like it has been hand painted especially on it's under belly where the blackness meets the white belly.

to me that is much more like a walleye than a sauger. maybe 15% sauger elements.
