I picked up a unit called Rock Tamers. They are basically heavy duty, custom fit mud flaps which attach to your hitch.

Looking at Rock Gard, Trailer Tux etc; all offered what I was looking for - to protect my boat. The deal is, Rock Tamers protect anything you plan on towing,
and are substantially less money.

I picked up mine at CTP here in Calgary for $300.00.

They work great, no complaints at all. Great product.

I need something as well, took my boat up to cold lake last year and found some nice dents and scratches when I got home. Found more by the end of the year. I tried to get ahold of rock tamer but no replies and the site shows no inventory. I might fab something up in the shop

Call Rainbow Marine. They have the teflon screens that go right onto the trailer. Very simple!!!

I'll give rainbow a shout tomorrow and see what's Avalible. Not feeling spending 1000 to 1500 though.

I seen that Allen dale trailers in red deer had the rock tamer. Couple weeks ago though. I have a Rock Guard on my boat and use a rock tamer. For the amount of money I spent on the boat I wanted to make sure it was protected well

CTP in Calgary didn't have any left? They had plenty when I was in there. Call them and I am sure they will ship to Red Deer.

Rock guard is a cheaper imitation of the trailer tux. Its no doubt not as well made but is average about 375 bux cheaper. You could try buying direct as well.

I really like the idea of these trailer hitch mud flaps...buy why aren't they as popular as the trailer mounted guards? Do they work as well?

nope they definatley do not, i made a one piece to cover the whole back of my truck and one trip thru the park to keeley sand blasted it all, trailer tux is best but averages 1200 and rock guard about 875 A combination of both is the answer for your most important fishing investment

Mines called Rock Solid and mounts on the trailer hitch. Protects all trailers I am hauling.

Can be bought at most RV dealers for a few hundred. And it works, saved a lot of rock chips off my boat for sure.

Thats the way i'm going this year I got three trailers I don't have to buy three guards http://mudflaps.com/c-168736-mud-flaps-by-vehicle-mud-flaps-rv-motorhome.html

my buddies got a set up that goes under his bumper. Its heavy duty bristles that almost touch the ground. (dont know the brand) Works great for him as he tows a $80000 mastercraft over gravel all the time with no problem.
