What arrows do you shoot

I was just woundering what everyone else is shooting. This is not a what is better than the other post. I am thinking of trying a different arrow that is why I asked. I am currently shooting Carbon Express CX 300.

for target indoors I shoot Victory XringerHV 350
for outdoor 3D I shoot Victory Xforce HV .400
For hunting I shoot Victory Xforce .400

all these are with a .001 straightness factor

They work really well and are really easy to pull out of targets they have one of the smoothest finishes on them so they pull out of all kinds of targets really well.

I shot gold tips last year and this year I'm shooting carbon express maxima hunter 250s with blazer 2' hyper vanes and accu nocks. The carbon express have been the best arrows I have shot so far.

I shoot wood arrows - they smell great when they are busted, unlike aluminum or graphite, that , well, don't!:D

Carbon arrows do not have to be expensive. .006 straightness tolerance usually run around $60 a doz, .003 $90 and .001 $120.

Most shooters can't tell the difference between shooting .001 and .006 arrows.......001 arrows are a waste of money for most guys.....unless you are highly competitive I would not spend the dollars.

At $60 a doz carbon arrows are by far cheaper than alums. They will outlast your alums for sure. They will never show a bend.

I have quite a mixture.......Bemans, Eastons, Gold Tips and Super Carbons. Some are .003 and some are .006. I don't have any .001.

depends on the purpose.

Indoor Target: Aluminum... most consistent spine and can straiten to +- 1/2 thou.

3D: ACE's used to use CXL's for fatties.... did notlike to fly beyond 40 and also very weak arrows... easy to damge

Hunting: you basic carbons up to 3 thou straitness. Spine can be inconsistent and always mark and test arrows. Yo will get the odd flier with lower piced carbons uness they are index marked!.....

best all around arrow would be an ACC. The FMJ is an inside out ACC so it would be good as well......

I went to his booth at the show on Sat. Bought a Limb Driver from him......the only thing I bought at the show. I have too many arrows to consider buying any more.......even though there were some good deals on arrows.

Incorrect spine really shows up on stickbows. On stickbows, the arrow shelf (if there is one) won't be cut past centre. Your arrows have to bend around the riser and recover to obtain good arrow flight. You can have arrows going sideways with incorrect spine. Good link for stick bow shooters is here (http://www.acsbows.com/bowtuning.html). I've never run into a spine problem with compounds and arrows providing that you selected the right spine in the first place (arrow length/draw weight/tip weight considerations) using an arrow selection chart. One thing about arrows............you can cut them shorter (stiffen them) but you can't make them grow (weaken them) lol. Another thing you can do to make arrows react stiffer or weaker (besides cutting them) is to change point weight/ insert weight. I've put 225 gr points (and heavier) on carbons (100 gr brass inserts and 125 gr points) in order to give them a weaker spine reaction. Granted, this was for stick bow tuning using carbon arrows.

You do the same with compounds!....

To get 2712 aluminums to spine for Indoors you have to use heavy points.

the 2712 is to get the line cutting ability of a fence post but are spined for heavy draw weight. target bows are held to a max of 60lbs. so the only option to make them spine is shoot them long and build up the tip.

The arrow flexes trying to get the tip to move.... more tip weight = more flex...

In my 2314's (2nd biggest arrow I can use for Fita) I use a 180 grain tips and cut arrows 30" long to get best spine. All I am looking for is consistency and forgiveness with line cutting and since these are only for 18m speed is not a factor.

in 3D I use ACE's with 100 grain tips in order to get FOC for nice flight and to help cut the wind, and as fast of speed as possible. they weigh 320 grains and at 62 lbs the go 318 fps, and because they are matched to my bow for spine they fly awesome!....

In my longbow I use 45/60 patriots cut to 30" with 100 grain brass with 125 grain points and they fly awesome out of my 45 lb stickbow!....

Static spine is how much arrow deflects with a weigh on it with 28" between fulcrums.

Dynamic spine is what happens in the bow.

Arrow diameter, material, wall thickness, arrow shape, length, tip weight, fletching etc all have an effect on dynamic spine.

The simulation program I have takes all the arrow specs and the draw force curve of the bow and calculates whetehr or not that arrow will work or is too stiff or too lite!....

It works and when you supertune you can see the difference!...in your group!...

radial x weave. I shoot them. They are great.
I only broke two this year. One on a robin hood and the other into a stumb that turned out to be pertified wood.
I havent tried any other brands so cant compare, but take alot to convince me to buy any other.

My compound comment was based on compound bows, carbon arrows, recommended in the selection chart. If a guy wants to use a spine that is not recommended on the selection chart, carbon or alum, yeah go ahead. A too stiff spine can be accommodated by using heavy points and longer arrows.....like you say. There is an infinite number of mutations....but generally a guy will buy .400 spine carbon arrows for a 60# bow use 75-125 gr tips and everything will work out fine in a hunting situation provided that the bow is tuned properly and the arrows spin true. 2712 large dia, thin-wall, fence-post, line -cutters weren't what I was thinking when I responded to trda...

very true, but many people overlook spine when selecting arrows!....

My hunting arrows... .400 spine out of a 60# bow with 85 grain points 29" long, no matter the brand of carbon arrow they all are very similar!...

Give the victory HV a try for 3D and the reg xforce for hunting. if you make it down to our shoot in 2 weeks you can try mine out if you would like

I've used ACC 3-49's for both for 5 years. There's no better arrow.
