so i purchased a 17 remington and was wondering what a good sight in range for this calibre would be? also if this would be a good gun for coyotes and not just rabits and smaller critters.

Dead coyotes all day long, 20 or 25gr bullets. There is a great site in the USA called Saubier.com dedicated to calibers under 223, many folks over there have them, shoot them, and love them. FS

I havnt seen many coyotes die as fast as they do with a 17 rem it flattens them

Little damage to fur. However, watch your range on coyotes. I have a 17 Fireball which is a couple of hundred feet slower than the 17 Rem. Energy wise, I figure it is a reliable 200yd coyote rifle. Accuracy wise, I can hit them much further, can't count on that tiny bullet doing the job. That's my opinion.

Thanks for the input. I'm thinking of sighting in at 100 and probably use the 243 for longer stuff. Looked at the ballistics and looks like it's a 300-400 yard gun then it drops cause it's to light to carry farther

If it is a .17 Remington Center fire you are talking about, a 200 yard zero will be perfect for it.
That little bullet shoots REALLY flat .
A friend shot a wold with one quite a few years back and 0ver 300yards with his, and about one zillion coyotes - give or take a few!!:sHa_sarcasticlol:
