Well I decided to cut the interior of my boat out and build it the way I wanted it to be. I removed the old paint and repainted it as well. I'd like some input from anyone who's ever done this or though about a feature they would like in their boat.
of course the floor will go to the front and it will be sealed and carpeted.

My 14 tinner gutted it and did something similar to what your doing. The front deck I cut board insulation for studs and filled the holes with spray foam and capped it with 1/2 plywood and then carpet. I had to make the base in centre for the chair screw right into the slats in the bottom of the boat with alluminum angle iron. I'll see if I can find some pics.

I would use treated 2x4s along the bottom if its not too late

Never use treated wood in aluminum boats. The copper in the treating reacts with the aluminum and causes corrosion.

To the OP, looks like a nice build! Thats what I had wanted to do with my boat but the ribbing wasn't sufficient for me to remove the bench seats without losing a ton of support.

I would cover the floor for sure, if not the whole thing with vinyl decking, easy to clean and doesn't hold the moisture. A flat floor, storage compartments and comfy seats would be high on my priority list.

Here is one that is really nicely done up that should give you a few ideas.

Good thread on this topic.

One thing to consider is the weight of the materials you are adding to the inside of the boat....you would be amazed how quickly wood adds weight. You may put it over max weight without trying too hard.

Looking good!

I have a wood sealant I'm going to use which doesn't contain copper. Also as far as the max weight, the boat is incredibly rated for 1300lbs and 3/4 of the time it's just me and my dog.

Your garage looks very similar to mine.
Attached on the front.
Houses are all the same now days.

I did something similar to mine but felt I should leave the existing seats in for structural support. I put in a indoor/outdoor carpeted floor, swivel seats, rod holders and an anchor lock on the front. I did cut out the plywood part of the seat on the back but left the metal x-member in for support. I do not really have any pics of the inside but you can see some of the changes I made in the following pics. I use mine mostly in the river and it works fairly well.

Sorry for the slight de-rail but are you running a prop motor in the NSR? How's that work out for you??

Foxracing - you may want to consider supporting the sides somehow. Your original bench seats kept the sides from warping in from water pressure, i'd be worried that without the benches you will see the boat warp and twist..?

Ya I can tell I lost some support by removing the center bench. I plan on putting in a ratcheting cargo bar in the center for driving and if needed while on the water. I don't think it will be a huge issue in the water as most forces will be absorbed by the water but we will see

I am running a prop but only go in about a 4-5 mile stretch that I am familiar with. You do have to learn the water, but once you have been over it a few times you know where to go. There are a couple of spots that I cross that are only about 1 1/2 feet deep, but on plane there is no problem, not for that size of boat anyway.

As for features i did my boat this time last year. Theres a thread on it here somewhere. Called "boat project update" i think.

Carpeted the floor, bow mount minn kota, battery and gas can up front to help plane better when alone. Lots of scotty rod holders, fish finder, cup holders, gps holder, umm. Must be other things but im not sure of all. Oh ya, fron casting deck was nice too.

Where are you located? Id love to come see your project in action. Mine was so fun to do.

Enjoy
