Hey it has been a long time since I posted on this form, probably since last spring fishing season.

This has probably been asked already, but I didnt find the information I was looking for when I did a searc.

Are there any lakes close to Calgary that are thawed out and can take a boat yet? CVR? PCR?

Thanks

Almost all of them. Mostly closed for fishing though.

I am also looking for a lake with no ice. Does anyone know if McGregor is ice free yet?

Thank you,

The parts of McGregor I could see from hwy 531 were all clear last Thursday. The parts of PCR I saw were all ice free April 23. Check the regs to make sure they are open though.

Does target the North side of a given lake in the spring work as a starting tactic? Get's more sunlight.

If you are looking for walleye, check the rocks, they will be in pre spawn and staging in spawning area. Usually spawn when water temp is 40-44 degrees.
