Has anyone had the chance to fish here yet. I grew up in the East kootenays and have never gone. I now live in Calgary and am curiuos if a b.c. license is needed to fish this lake.....it sits mid border.

That's correct. I've heard there are/were nice brookies in there, but have never fished it. Maybe I'll give it a shot this summer, but as of about a week ago it is still iced over. Crowsnest is starting to melt.. but probably only 10-20% open as of the same time.

Yes, and it is too bad. It turned into a nice trophy lake for rainbow's. I've heard they were thinking of removing the existing reg's and turning it back to a "take out" lake after the kill off...Hopefully this is just rumor.

I have seen some of the fish pulled out by Brian Chan and company and it would be a shame to allow freezer fishing.:confused0068:
I prefer the Summit Lake up on the Al-can near Muncho Lake... awesome place, nice camp ground, great fishing.

Yup nothing like a Sports Fishing on the Fly episode to create some interest in a lake. It is a nice lake to fish but it is on the small side. Used to to a great Cuttie lake but over the last 5 years give or take it has been stocked with primarily with rainbow triploids. Like many lakes it us to be a quiet place to go with very little pressure but has dramatically increased over the last few years when the rumors of big trout surfaced. It did partially kill off last year but there were still some fish to be had. I fished it once last year and it was bumper to bumper boats.

FYI...There are creosote tests sites all around the area of Summit Lake and this is from the early 1900’s when the railway used to store rail-ties at Crowsnest…I have talked to people that ate the fish out of there but for me, it’s catch and release only…

This lake is pretty good. I wouldn't eat fish out of there.
Used to be beast sized rainbows... Then it winter killed .
Then the cutties they stuck in there turned into beasts, my 6 year old caught a 20" cutty on a tweetybird rod.
Then it winter killed again. And they planted beast rainbows there .
My other daughter caught an 18" brookie... Fresking huge.
Then it winter killed.
They planted rainbows last year.
I can't wait for the ice off!
