A few people have been asking so I thought I'd let you know that Vanessa's close up encounter with a Yukon grizzly is featured on the coming week's episode of Outdoor Quest TV.

I just spent three years in the Yukon and was wondering where it was filmed or occured ?

Thanks, Dog_River

Hey Sheep, saw that video about a month ago...Holy crap!!!. Love it when you see Vanessa bullet hit him in the shoulder. Also excellent job on training your dog. Did he/she see the grizzly as well, doesn't look like your dog made a sound.

Ya, he was about 10 yards off to our right so about 15-20 yards from the bear. We had him in a down/stay and he knows what that means. We've exposed him to a ton of bears so he is really comfortable around them. Had a sow and cubs threaten to take a run at me last year and he got in between and backed her off.....I was glad he was there. He seems to know when it's time to be quiet and time to protect.

Did a little snake aversion training with him yesterday....amazing how quickly he gets it.

Really nice to have that extra insurance when you may need it. Seems like a real smart dog. What did you name him. It just goes to prove that when you spend time and train your dogs, the reward is huge.

I saw that episode also, thought it wAs an awesome hunt! I hunt interior bears and that one looked huge. What did it square ? And what did the skull end up measuring ?

Rough guess at the length?

Rough guess at the length?

On the carcass I'd say just over 7 feet. He was a big mountain grizz that's for sure.

Watching it right now.....

Unreal!

"stand up and take him"! Good lord, more like stand up and shake a paw!

That was great. What a tank

That was an awesome hunt TJ. It had the right amount of "pucker factor" for a climax. Congrats go out to Vanessa.

Very good footage. Lots of hunting shows you lose perception of how close or far the shooter is but this one you can see everything is up close. The bear had a dandy hide on it as well.

Is a slob of a beer like a pitcher or more like a keg? ;):happy0180: Sorry - couldn't resist.

:happy0180:

He was a keg for sure.

We get a once in a lifetime tag for them up here. I should have killed the very first one I saw but it decided to have none of that. He would have been about the same as the one in the show. I haven't seen one anywhere near that size again.....one day tho. Another kick at it this year Fall.....we saw 8 or so different bears last year :)

LOL...thanks TM...if it helps thewre was a little beer consumed once we got back to Whitehorse. That was definitely a bear worth celebrating!
