Will slugs and 00 buckshot kill a bear in a pinch?

Hey, I'm looking to go camping this spring is some places where there are a few bears(probably grizzlys). Will a 12 gauge do ok for self defense. Not that I'm expecting to get attacked but some bears are pretty unpredictable.

Should atleast deture him, usually when im bowhunting bear, i load my 12 gauge up staggerd with 00 buck, slug, 00 buck, slug.

Yep both will work. Buck shot for up close and slugs for longer shots or better penetration. Get one of those 5 shot bandoliers that go on the stock and put 3 slugs and 2 buck in it. Keep a clean camp and you probably will not see any bears.

Yup. This topic has been beat to death but the main thing is the op got his answer. Yes. A 12 g with slugs or 00 buck will do the job
