Although I do not shore fish to much anymore, I know there are lots of members on here that do. Years ago I picked up a holder called the "Bank Manager", it is great for keeping your rig up off the ground. Keeps the dust out of the reel, easier to keep an eye on the rod tip, and is also much easier to do a hook set right out of the holder, while watching your rod tip. Scotty does not make them anymore but I made another one out of a potatoe fork and u-bolted a Scotty tube holder to it. It works just as well but having 4 forks it is hard to get in the ground if there is a lot of rock, you may have to move farther up the shore to get it in the ground.

Rather than attaching a bell to the rod tip, I used to just hang one off the line, even the slightest bite would drop the bell to the ground, giving you a visible and audible notice of a bite.

The Bank Manager

Agree, really resourceful and a great way to keep those 13' float rods up high.

LOL, at least I used U-bolts and didn't duct tape the holder on there.

That looks terrific. I don't suppose you could pm me a larger picture of how you rigged it together. I would love to make one for myself.

12 inch pvc pipe 2 inch diameter 12 inch rebar 2 hose clamps. Place rebar 1/2 way up on the pcv pipe. Put the clamps on and there you go. I painted mine florescent orange.

If I remember right I had to spread the U-bolt slightly to line up with the Scotty base.
