Hi gramps!

I like the large folding anchors, the ones with a locking ring, have 4 graples. Available at WSS. They fold up and store nicely. You will want the larger one for your ship:);) I think they are about 22-24lbs.

I bought a Digger for my new boat . 100 feet of rope and I think I be good to go . I also bought one of them 35 lb navy anchors . That are supposed to dig in as well , but when fishing rocky bottom pretty difficult to get it to dig in , so will use that instead . Bought em both at bass pro for about 30 bucks each .

To make those work well and they do, you have to remember 5:1 ratio. If you are in 20 fow you need 100 feet of line out to get the proper angle for them to dig in with. Had my boat anchored in a very strong current with 3 other boats tied to me, never moved an inch

And there is the answer folks. If you think you are on the walleye and drop anchor you need to drop anchor at least 100 ft upstream or once you hook up with the bottom you are totally off the fish.

Good lesson for all to learn from.

Just wondering if you are talking about the digger or the navy style anchor right here?

I am only talking navy, or danforth, take your pick, works like a bugger done right. Actually not even doing it right cause i don't use a chain.....

I was just having a look at mine and it seems like the "flukes" or the spikes have a very limited range of movement, a long rope will deffinatly be needed for them to dig into the bottom, the anchor would pretty much have to be lying flat for them to bite at all. I have a little five lb navy style anchor that I use in my canoe where the flukes pivot alot more on the shaft. I know a canoe is not a heavy boat but with this anchor it holds real tight even in a very strong current on a 2-1 or 3-1 ratio. Just wondering if this tight pivot point is normal for bigger anchors or if the Princess auto ones are duds?
