What battery for a Traxxis 55SC electric?

It's been suggested a purchase either a Decca 98 amp or a Decca 88 amp battery for my electric motor. These batteries run around the $500.00 mark. Is this really the way to go?

Just by a good deep cycle battery, group 27 or 31 should be fine this should be around $100 you could pick up 5 for that price.

I use the costco battery on my pontoon with no issues. using the Vector 55# digital.
