Josh and his blonde bear, his first bear that he has ever hunted for. I've never seen a bear quite that blonde before and my blackie w/ the white diamond. It was a great weekend. Josh is looking forward to hunting this fall and can't wait for the Wild Sheep Foundation - Youth Hunter Sheep Camp coming up in June.

two beauties there! 1 big one with a little uniqueness, and one of the prettiest bears ive ever seen. that color makes him way more of a trophy to me than a 22 incher. congrats guys!

Either of those is what I'm looking for this year. I've always wanted a black with a big white chest patch. What are your taxidermy plans? I would definitely do an upright half mount of the black to show off the chest.

Can you tell us the story to go with these bears, please?

I am guessing that's not where they were shot, in the middle of an opened field...

We'de been planning on this spring bear hunt since last fall and I had Josh practicing with his 243 as much as possible. He's become quite the good shot and I felt comfortable letting him use his rifle even though it might be a bit under gunned for bear hunting as I would be backing him up. The plan was to drive up north to a area that I had shot a beautiful chocolate brown bear w/ a perfect white v, a 21 5/16 pumpkin head years ago. I knew there was a good chance of finding some colored bears in this area and Josh really wanted a colored bear. We drove up early in the morning and decided to check the area out Friday evening and hunt Saturday and as luck would have it we spotted Josh's blonde within the hr eating grain out in the field. I told Josh that the plan was to sneak in as close as we could to the bear with out spooking it and then let his nerves calm down and make his shot. We stalked to within 100 yards of the bear, and let Josh's nerves settle down for about 15 minutes so he wasn't shaking as bad as he was when we first stopped. I got him to line up and take his time for the shot and had the bear covered with my 300 weatherby just in case Josh didn't make a perfect shot. I told him to take it and he put a bullet thru both lungs and the bear went down. He was one happy kid and said that it was the best day of his life! LOL I got him to help skin his bear out and we called it a night.
The next morning we set out early to see if we could spot another one and again it was our lucky day as we spotted 4 bears out in another field about 3/4 of a mile away. Three of the bears were together and the other one was another 300 yards further down the field. We stalked in as close as we could about 200 yards to the bears. I would have tried to get closer but one of the bears kept looking at us and was nervous. We watched them for about 20 minutes deciding which one I would take and I finally decided on the one with the white diamond one his chest. A single shot and he dropped like a ton of bricks, one of the bears was a little reluctant to leave but as we walked up towards them he finally ran of into the trees. We took some pictures and started skinning him out when we noticed that other bear that was further down the field coming towards us. He finally stopped about 75 yards away from us sat down and watched us watching him for what seemed like a long time. This guy was a bruiser!!! Easily a 21"+ bear. I was wishing that I had an extra tag but didn't and he must have decied he had seen enough and got up and walked away. We finished skinning my bear out and then it was time for the long drive home and to get the bears to the taxidermist. It turns out that Josh's bear is the blondest bear they have ever had in there shop and mine had the largest white diamond they had ever had also. It was a great trip and Josh is hooked on hunting for life now I think.
