Hey Guys
Leaving early tomorrow morning for a day of spot and stalk, just can't decide whether south of Edson or north of Whitecourt. Thoughts?

Check the forecast for both places....go to the one that is better.

I did they're both the same! Might just have to roll a dice 1-3 it's Edson, 4-6 it's Whitecourt, hmm which one has the better restaurants?

which one's close enough to spend more time in the bush and less time driving?

IMO north of whitecourt. Iv seen more bears out that way in the past. as far as restaurants go. Stop by the petro can on the way out of town after the winks. They have fantastic samiches. Pretty good prices so pick up 3 or 4 of em, some condiments and a few pepper packets. mmm good stuff.

I chatted to my hunting partner and Whitecourt it is! I'll stop by the Petro for sure, hard to beat a good sandwhich in the bush. I'm in Edmonton so Edson and WtCourt are exactly the same distance. :)

I think your wasting your time for another couple weeks still. Last I heard not much for bear are being sighted anywhere and some areas still have snow in the bush. I'd save some money and time and go in a couple weeks myself

I know it's still early but I've got the time and he's back to work on the 14th. Can't shoot anything sitting on the coach :) I'm goign to stick to south facing slopes, n/s pipelines and the like to increase the odds.

He must have been HUGE to reach the powerline. Tough bugger too. :sHa_shakeshout::sHa_shakeshout:

If your looking to put on km's, the Virgina Hills road goes forever and there is lots of logging cuts and a few pipelines. Tons of roads and wellsites. We sled around there every year but have never bear hunted there so I cant say what you could expect to find. Thought I would mention the area seeing as you picked Whitecourt. Good luck.

Seen a boar on the prowl last night close to Edson, probably a 6 footer, definitely on the trail of a sow.

which one has the better restaurants?

The trading post just outside whitecourt is not bad, mind you the diner just inside Edson north side of the west bound lane is good too.
Hope that helps!

Hey Guys
Went to Whitecourt and a bit north and also west, Ditches as JUST greening up in the bush, not much feed yet. It seemed much better lower down, up on the hills there was still a bit of snow. Hiked 15km plus driving around. We managed to find one smaller black bear but couldn't get ready before it busted us and was off. Hvae fun, should be good in about a week, right on May long!
