I'm having trouble reading the names of lakes on the printed and PDF versions of the maps in the 2012 Alberta Sportfishing guide. Does anyone know of sources of higher resolution maps where the names of the lakes are readable?

Try this:

http://atlas.nrcan.gc.ca/auth/english/maps/topo/map

The detail on these maps is fantastic.

Navigating takes some used to, but it's worth the time.

Make sure you check out all the features under the LEGEND tab on the right side of the screen.

Unlike google maps, you can't drag the map to a new view. You have to use the re-centre tool. It's a bit slow, but more detailed than google maps by far.

hope it helps.

Get the Alberta Guide to Sportfishing Magazine by Barry Mitchel. Not only does he have many, many of our waters listed, but also what's in them, and how to get to them. The maps are very good and have a lot of the backroads shown on them as well.

Cheers.

I used to have an iphone app that utilized these maps and you could download them for offline use. I lost the app a while ago, and I can't remember what it was called. Anyone have any idea?
