View Full Version : Blonde Bear Down!!!

I've been up in the Peace country hunting bears with a friend since Wednesday. We have been spot and stalking bears like crazy, putting on miles and wearing out boots. We never saw a single bear until today, and it was a blonde!! One 140 grain Nosler Partition from the 6.5x55 took care of him. He even did a death moan. It's a boar and his hide squares 5'2". I'm not 100% sure what I'm doing with it yet. I would love to lifesize him, but not sure I can justify the cost right now. A rug is also an option.

Nice bear James,
You should spot, and then stock, less wear on the boots, ha.
Good work.

This is the only bear we've seen since I got here Wednesday. They aren't moving all that much yet. It could also be that we're spotting and stalking in a baiting zone.

Thanks Mike. For anyone questioning the size. I know how a tape measure works, and the bear squares 5'2". I drove 800 km to shoot a color phase, and if I didn't want it I wouldn't have shot it. My tag, my gas, my ammo, my bear. I start a new job on Wednesday so unfortunately I don't have enough time this season to hunt for a bigger one.

I hope I have some of your luck this coming weekend... I would like a bear rug for the living room. I haven't shot a bear in 12-14 years.... So hoping I can connect.

Congrats on a trophy bear. Size is not everything. From the looks of it you got a bear with a truly great color phase. I don't think he is as small as some people are making him out to be. Not a Holy crap bear but you have already stated that. You know a holy crap bear as soon as you see it. Anyways congrats again.

Ok....so what are the measurements of this one and which of the two is bigger? No prize will be awarded because I honestly don't care what your opinion is due to all your negativity not only on my thread, but others as well.

Nice blonde

Most color phase tend to be smaller anyhow , cause there not allowed to grow old

Id have killed it too .I dont care about the size when its that color. Will make a damn pretty mount.

Congrats!!!

How come everybody gets offended, when you raise a few legitimate questions?:confused0024: When you post a picture of an animal you harvested, you should expect some questions, otherwise what's the point ? Or, are we just a mutual admiration society Here??? Good on him for bagging the bear, but I'd be awful disappointed if I went to his house expecting to see a 5 foot bear. As I posted on another thread, he's a small bear with long legs. Nose to tail, I'd call him a 4 footer.

This bear is 5' 2" after tanning. Also note his ears are comparatively smaller than James.

Wrong. The black was 5' even nose to tail, and across the paws, and he measures the exact same on the rug. The blonde was 5 feet even nose to tail, and 5'4" paw to paw. You might want to "specialize" in something else.

Not much wonder so many people have quit posting pictures of their animals on here....

You have nothing to prove to anyone James. Sometimes best not to feed people like that. Congrats again on a beauty 5+ footer!

James, you've got to stop taking things so seriously and you should have washed the blood off that bear, right away.

That's why I quit posting pics of fish or game .Too many self righteous idiots and armchair experts to bother with........nothing better to enhance one's own image than by putting down others .....removing all doubt as to your own character or lack there of as it may be....like the mutts trashing some kids for shooting mulie does a couple years back ,real ambassadors of the sport ........Harold

Beauty of a blonde!!!..they are few and far between, good on yah!!!
Harold...WTH does decent game management have to do with your post???... please PM so James bear thread doesn't get de-railed. Once again great bear J., you have a good hunting area there, seems the color phases show up in spotty areas...

Turn the blonde into a rug and hang it on the wall beside your black. They'll make a great looking pair that'll bring you lots of great memories.

It sounds like you had a great trip. Congrats on the bear.

I second that!! Im gonna say again its a great bear man. The first bear and only one that I have shot to date was a 5.5 foot cinnamon sow. Ive had lots of buddies bug me because it wasnt very big but whatever. Every time I walk by that rug I get a **** eating grin on my face! lol RUG IT, ADMIRE IT & BE PROUD OF IT! That is a potential once in a lifetime bear. This Grizz guy is just ****ed off because he doesnt have a blond hanging in his man cave! You do!! :sHa_shakeshout:

Congrats James...great looking bear. Definately satisfying to have that success after all the work and leg work you put in.

My daughter was holding out for a blonde bear but we never saw one....they are not a dime a dozen and definately a true trophy.

Congrats once again........Marco

Grats James very nice bear.. i had one years ago and didn.t get a rug mount and am still kicking my butt as it was a beauty and should of been at least rug mounted as i have never seen another one and that was 35 years ago so think long and hard on what you do with that boar as he is a one of a kind!!
