Openin day red deer river, first catch on the fly!

Armed with the new 5wt redington rod and my rocky mountain pedal bike, I set off on the bike paths through Red Deer to try and land my first. Lots was hatching but there was no action on top! Tossed on a rather large streamer and said what the hell. Few casts later and bam! Hit somethin solid, but it slowly kept moving upstream. 5 minutes later i finally see the big bastard and with a shake of his head, snap goes the leader. Bummer, dont have the same streamer to tie back on. Tie on a wooly bugger and off we go, determined. No more than 10 minutes go by and as i was slowly lifting the fly out of the water after a retrieve i watched the big fella come smash it! Here we go again, this time i played er a little safer and walked up and down the banks till this guy was pooped. After countless runs stripping massive amounts of line and nearly 25 minutes later finally got him to shore! Big old brute, alot to handle on the 5wt and truly an epic first catch on the fly!
