I'd add a blue charm to the green machine and that might be all you need.

You got me looking through the Newfoundland Spawner magazines, they have different patterns in every issue... I'm jealous, would love to chase some salmon back home...

here's a few patterns, if I can get some time over the weekend, i'll scan all of them for you. Some good articles in these mags.

also look for cosseboom patterns, there's a green pattern in the mag.

different charms:
blue, green, red and black

Still have a dozen salmon flies on my person, tried them here in Alberta, fish didn't like them.

Add some Thunder and Lightnings, original wing and white wing. Silver Greys and Silver Doctors for bright days. Blue Charms, original wing and white wing.
Buck bugs and Bombers always do well.
Green Highlanders are also a favourite of mine.
Where will you be fishing?

Check out the Blue Charm Angling fly-shop in St John's on Waterford Bridge Road. The owner, Ossian McMahon can give you more advice on best paterns for specific rivers.

when I fished the Exploits, I had a lot of success on any white winged patterns, particularly White wing Blue Charm and Thunder and Lightning but also Butterfly variants.

The Humber flies very much depend. on where you fish. downstream of Deer Lake, I use mainly bigger flies #6 through 2/0. Upstream of Deer Lake to the Falls usually #12 -#4 for wet flies Bombers #6 to #1/0. Upstream of the falls I have gone as small as #16 flies in lower water conditions and caught salmon. But as always what you use is determined by river conditions.

If you are at the Humber, drop by and see John Sheppard at his seasonal store on the road into the park, he can advise what to use there.

From what I am hearing, the Exloits is shaping up for another year of good salmon runs.
