I was wondering how Cardiff Park Pond is this year? I don't see it on the stocked list [1], and only see it on the proposal list for 15th of June [2]. Is there anything to catch now?

Heard a rumour from some guys at work that there are some brookies in Cardiff along with the rainbows...can anyone confirm that?? i take my 3yr old trout fishing there and haven't had a chance to go yet.

Have never heard anything about brookies, I go there once or twice a week. They are jumping and biting but pretty sure the lake was winter killed. Might as well bring your ice fishing jigs because they are super small this year. Caught 2 bows a couple days ago and they were maybe 6 inches long at most nothing worth keeping.

They are biting but like the previous poster said they are tiny.

So in other words, they did stock it.

My biggest trout out of cardiff was 14 inches 5 years ago, one of the first trout ponds i fished in Alberta until it started winter killing.

I've tried leeches, worms, cheese in this place and have not gotten one bite the two times I have been there. My son gets bored because he can't catch anything (he is 5 and his patience is underestimated), for two hours. I've been by the docks and on the narrow section NE part. I see them jumping. what's thier preference???
