Tried a spitfire 4 blade prop on my motor today and holy crapo going with my same pitch it increased my top end from max 36mph to 40mph (GPS) and I have to back down on the throdle or I'll over rev it at 6000rpm :0 Getting on plain is a breeze, it's like your always on it !!! People get this prop u won't be disappointed I promise. I was unimpressed getting on plain...... Found my solution

When I say over rev what I mean is it sits perfectly on peak rpm in wot so if u accedently trim to high u can run into cavitation and way over rev it. Unfortunately this happened to me once so I settle instead of trimming up to high. I really gaind top end with a waaaaay better hole shot.

I can see my wallet getting smaller? I have heard these spitfires are worth the price of admission.

what size motor did you put it on? did you go down to a 12 pitch, cost? intriguing minds want to know LOL

Is that the new prop that merc came out with ?, have heard really good things about it. If i remember correctly they dont have any for the real big hp, something like 100hp and under.

I went from a 13 to a 13 on my 60 and its made a world of difference, no issued with three big guys and two kidletts. Also the new 2012 F-150 ecoboost toes like its not even there, i guess the boat is only like 1000lb dry.

you sure you mean 40 MPH and not 40KPH?

40MPH on a 60 would be the haulingist 60 around for sure.

Where did you get yours? I'm looking for a 10.6 x 12 for my 40hp.

My 2009 Merc 50 with stock prop gets me going 33.5mph on glass water @ 6K rpm. I would imagine that a 60 could feasibly do 40, depending on the weight of the boat, and payload.

40 mph puts it at zero slip. The tach may be off a bit and it may be 6100-6200rpm with some slip, but 40mph-ish is definately where you should be with those rpm

I still can't get pics off my iPhone 4gs onto this site it won't copy and paste, photo bucket won't work either? I hit 37 MPH on my new hummingbird GPS at just over 6000 rpm with me and a buddy, two big guys 210lb and I'm 290 fully loaded. With pics. I was lucky to get this by myself in the boat before, and plaining sucked. NO issues now. I know 290 right lol, ah im not fat
