How big is a 37 inch pike with a 15 inch girth. I'm assuming it was a male because almost all the other pike were fat (i think with eggs)

A pike that size is most likely a female. Id say it was about 12-14lbs

The formula is for trout/salmon. Doesn't work for pike. 15 is a good girth on a 37.......I'd guess just under 15 lbs.

Bad assumption on the male bit. The largest male pike ever recorded was 6 lbs. Almost certainly all those over that weight are guaranteed to be female.

Same with walleye. Largest male ever about 3lbs.

Same with Largemouth bass, largest male a couple of pounds.

In my research, this is true of almost all freshwater species (there are some exceptions, but I don't have my references). The largest recorded male fish are around 10%-15% of the weight of the world record fish.
