I have fished Whitswan Lake, Whitetail Lake, Kinbasket, Kootenay, Columbia...

Fish for them the same as other trout, you'll get one. Man do they scrap too. Give us some pics.

Some things I used when I spinfished for them were flatifsh, apex's, rapalas, and the kamlooper orange with black dot spoon.

Try them on a fly rod, AWESOME fight! My brother and I caught some a few years back in BC. They were 24 and 25 inches, weighted in around the 6 pd mark. HUGE runs, and a long fight. Black leech patterns work well.

Good luck

Yep I flyfish for them now as well. Can't go wrong with a leech pattern under an indicator on a shoal. Deadly.

Fished upper arrow for the last ten years now mostly around Nakusp. Only during the summer time though. Biggest I've caught was 10lbs in September. The best time is in the cooler months when they are up top chasing kokanees.

used to live in Revelstoke in the 70-80's and fish the Coulumbia river and the upper arrows before the Dam got put in. Have taken dolly's to 18 pounds and seen them taken to 26 pounds in Aug. on the Upper Arrows and Bows were always taken in the 20 + range in the fall. Fished with Mac plugs at various depths if your boating. Fly fished the river before the Dam but never caught anything much bigger than 5 pounds. I have not been back since mid 80's creek mouths in the fall are good spots as the big dolly's follow the Kokaneen up the creeks.......puphood

Gramps: This time of year it can be very productive dragging a bucktail fly behind a Planer-board. Best if water is choppy and fly speed around 3.4 to 3.7 mph. I fish Kootenay lots this time of year and once the water temp hits 45 Degrees F the action will start.

These huge fish will also come to the surface to feed on ants. The ants will start to show up around the end of May. I heard of a fish that had 3 pounds of ants in it's stomach.
