Is there a way to advoid snagging rocks when using spoons. Some lake i go to are very rocky for shore fishing.

Try retrieving faster and keep your rod tip high. Smaller/lighter spoons may help as well :)

different styles will spoons run at different depth for a given retrieve. canoe spoons,run shallow . mepps cyclops, run mid depth. compared to a crocodile spoon. I also use a longer rod for most spoon fishing. crank up the lb test line, I have 30 lb power pro on the new mitchell ,lots use 50lb for pike. hope that helps.
