Drove over the Ram and North Ram as well as some of their respective tributaries today after a weekend of fishing an (open) ES2 stream. Water conditions were better than I expected, perhaps the snow isn't coming off the mountains yet.

I will make room for opening day to join you if you want. I need to get out with the bug sticks sometime in the near future.

well had a look at the flowing playground in my back yard this afternoon. she's rocking and on a steady rise. level reports from the boys out of the oldman drainage from a couple days ago prior to yesterdays storms was not good either. with a record snow pack up top there's much more to come down. june 16th gonna be tough fish i'm thinking. but what else is new. hurry up and wait just like the past couple openers.

With the snow pack and a couple more days of rain maybe we might see a repeat of 2005

Would you mind enlightening me as per what occurred in 2005, I was ten at the time and my alpine stream fishing was lacking.

It was considered to be a one in 100 year flood, destroyed fishing for a while, a lot of damage to personal property and streams, happened on the Fathers Day Long Weekend. Was out camping in it, will never forget.

Dace,

That section's flow rate peaked at 1091.214 m3/second at 6:00 AM on Sunday (June 24) and rose 2 metres in 24 hrs.

THEN IT BLEW OUT!!!

By 10:00 AM flow was down to 15.152 m3/second and water level dropped 3.5 metres.

When you took the photo is was down to 15.117 m3/s and and water levels remained the same.

Would have been a sight to see that morning.

p.s. Normal discharge this time of year is 15 - 40 m3/second for that section.

used to like sitting on the bank above woodhaven in okotoks as a teen doing what teens do and listening to the roar of the swollen flooding sheep. Sounded like a freight train in 2006 :)
