Thank you Ultra light ugly stick.

Was a decent night for a quick trip. I got outfished big time but I never got skunked! :)

That pike was a hog....really thick shoulders for a river pike. I never noticed she had a damaged eye till just looking at the pics now.

The ugly-stik and 5-6 pound test line did the trick. I had the pleasure of seeing the look on BGSH face when that thing hit and screamed line off the reel.

Landed her snapped a few quick pics and back in the river for another day.

Nice pics thanks guys. I fished a spot yesterday with my new sturgeon set up I bought over the weekend at bass pro in calagary. I went nice and early and sat there for 4 hours without a bite. A guy showed up and set up right beside me. Within two minutes his rod started going. Three jumps later and a five minute fight, he landed a nice sturgeon. I think I was more excited than he was. :sHa_shakeshout: Congrats to my new friend. Cant wait for my turn.
Thanks again for the pics guys.

I have the same ultra lite ugly stick that I use for perch fishing and yes sometimes I hook a pike with it but maybe only a 2 pounder which is a blast.A 12 lbs pike on that rod would be a hoot....well done guys.:sHa_shakeshout:

Awesome! That pike is something else! I need to find a good spot in the NSR. Everything I catch there is under 14".

Not to be "that guy" and de-rail the thread, but why are the backgrounds cropped and blurred in the pics? Is it really to not give away the location?

Nice pics anyway, and looks like a good night!

That's exactly why they are blurred and cropped.

Where do you fish?

I am 99% sure that he was high on mushrooms when he caught those fish and he just wanted the pictures to illustrate what he was seeing at the time.

Or he was masking the "no fishing" signs that were there.

Great trip, I bet that sucker you snagged in the back half of the body put up a great fight! As said already, nice pike.

At first we thought that sucker was a hog of a walleye!

No, never did try fishing for sturgeon before, just walleye and the odd pike here and there.
