I have a 7 and 10 yr old who are so excited to go fishing....and I haven't done it for 30 years. Where can we go near Spruce Grove wither catch and release or keepers. Lastly is there a beginners guide to fishing somewhere, etc. Thanks for your help

very vague request but i'm assuming you'll be fishing from shore. east pit is nice once you make it down the hill. easy shore fishing with a hook and worm for rainbows plus a chance to hook a big one.

Muir lake, about 8 min. north of spruce grove and is stocked with rainbows

Chickakoo is a great place for kids. So is salters just south of onoway. Both shore accessible.

I would have to disagree with the first two suggestions. east pit is about a 40 minute drive and a 20 minute walk from the parking lot from Spruce grove, and as much as i love muir i do not think it is suitable for young children since they can not use bait there. Try chickakoo or sauer, they have little stocked trout and you are probably 25 minutes away from them.as far as a beginers guide ,pick up fishing for dummies or the idiots guide to fishung. i bought the idiots guide and it stopped me from asking stupid questions here.

Chickakoo or saur would be your best bet.

i agree that chicakoo and salter are closer but chicakoo is very busy and not great from shore and salter is much worse. if your not one of the first ones there it is very hard to fish from that shore. east pit is very easy to shore fish esp. with kids or beginers. wherever you end up i hope you have fun. good luck.

ha ha! I go to Chickakoo lots and there is always room to fish. I always catch fish from shore.
