Was out to Coal.....the shallow North part of the lake had the poplar fuzz mixed in with blue-green type "scum" and it smell like rotting fish (presumably from the winter kill in the spring there).

I would be very VERY hesitant to eat anything that came out of Coal right now.....sadly the fishing there has been 100 times worse than normal for this time of year....

Over harvesting, poaching, and a winterkill have put this lake on a verge of collapse IMHO.....sad, I have many fond memories of fishing there.

Can't say that I'm surprised. It's been heading that way for a while.

I agree....the lake is extremely eutrophic. I was just surprised to see this type of algae activity so early in the season.
